All our marine safety helmets are accredited to PAS 028:2002, but what does this mean? PAS028:2002 is the certification for marine safety helmets, meaning it the testing process is specifically catered to marine safety risks. For example, all our helmets are designed with inflatable liners, so they have a positive buoyancy, they also do not soak up water, so they remain lightweight. The snug fit of the helmet as well as grooved liner means when falling into water from a height there is little resistance to cause pressure on the neck. Our visors are designed to snap off with impact to avoid the bucketing effect and injury to the neck.
We have been designing marine helmets for 30 years. We understand the different challenges that need to be met when designing a marine helmet. As Gecko is the only company worldwide who specialises in marine safety helmets, we can assure that 100% of the helmet is designed with intention and understanding of marine use. Helmets that are not intended to be use in a marine environment, do not have the safety features specific to maritime risks.
